THE KERR STEWART

It's been a busy month. I changed the workshop around and made the bench higher as my back gets older! Then I started to refurbish the Kerr Stuart in preparation for selling. This is a replica of the 'Princess' class which ran on the Campbeltown to Machrihanish narrow gauge line on the Mull of Kintyre, Scotland from 1900 to 1930. Described at the time as the prettiest engine on the line. Mind you, the original wasn't lined and there is no clear evidence as to the original colour.

I stripped all the bodywork and running gear. I checked all the bushes, but nothing need replacing, just a good clean. I dealt with the odd paint chips and scratches and then put it back together. It's taken days to do, but now it's back to as near as I can make it, to the first steaming. I've taken a few pictures which I show here. I've just got the driving truck to give the once over and then I'm ready to begin my new driving truck for the Romulant.
